Slappin' Strawberry Shrimp Salad
Currently, I am in class looking through my pictures trying to see what I’m going to post for the day. My mouth is watering as we speak. I have NEVER had a salad that taste this GOOD. I’ve had plenty of salads in my day, but this one blows everyone out the water. This taste of heaven is called the Strawberry Summer Salad. It’s a spring mix salad with tarragon vinaigrette, feta cheese crumbles, caramelized almonds, and blackened shrimp. I don’t know if the tarragon dressing set if off or if the blackened shrimp sealed the deal. I ate every last spinach leaf on the platter. The Strawberry Summer Salad was SLAPPIN'!!!!! I wish I could have one right now.
FYI: Buckhead Bottle Bar & Bistro
FOOD TIP: Tarragon is also known as dragon's wort.

Feature of the Week: Sept. 13-19
A Taste of Heaven would not exist if it were not for the audience, so I want to show my appreciation by dedicating Thursdays to the fans. If you eat or make a dish of your own and its camera ready, then you can email me your photos. I will review and post them on Thursday. It’s important to remember presentation, style, and taste. I look forward to seeing your Taste of Heaven.

Description: I’ve been on a healthy tip lately, if you haven’t noticed. I was really excited about this feature because it’s a dish that can be made at home without sweating over a hot stove. This taste of heaven is a spinach salad with feta cheese crumbles, cranberries, sliced strawberries, granola, and for the dressing, MK used a pomegranate vinaigrette. For some reason, many people are not into dressing up their salads with fresh fruit, but I think it’s a wonderful combination. (Don’t knock it till you try it!) I've never had pomegranate vinaigrette dressing before; however, I bought some from the grocery store last night, and I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve got some good ideas brewing, so stay tuned for more.

Late Night Snack
One night, I was so hungry I didn’t know what to cook. I looked in the fridge, and all I saw was a bag of romaine lettuce. Since it was late, I figured a bacon salad wouldn’t be so bad. Plated is a romaine salad with bacon, mushrooms, tomato, cheese, boiled egg, apple, crushed black pepper, and Texas garlic croutons. I loaded this salad with everything. By the time I was finished preparing it, the salad look like a huge mountain. This did not discourage me one bit; I ate every last drop. Go hard or go home.

FOOD TIP: Pineapples, grapes, and strawberries are great fruits to add to your next salad.

Healthy at Home
It’s hard to eat healthy when you’re surrounded by fast food and unhealthy snacks; however, you can eat healthy at home. Pictured is a homemade salad with spinach leaves, baked chicken, bacon bits, croutons, boiled egg, almonds, sliced apple, shredded cheese, and fresh ground pepper. You can choose your own dressing; personally, I like creamy French, ranch, or balsamic vinaigrette. It’s a quick meal that can be eaten for lunch, dinner, or snack. The best part is you don’t have to worry about using a lot of pots and pans to make this dish. Its healthy, filling, and perfect for your diet.

FOOD TIPS: Spinach leaves are rich in vitamin A.

Description: This taste of heaven is called the Shrimp and Avocado salad. It’s romaine lettuce with grilled shrimp, pico de gallo, black beans, fresh jalapeƱos, avocado, feta cheese, and balsamic dressing. I have never had a salad with fresh jalapeƱos, so this feature intrigues me. I love the southwestern toppings and the choice of balsamic dressing. People normally order salads with common toppings, but I think the Shrimp and Avocado salad is adventurous. When I went to Taco Mac I ordered the Chopped Cobb Salad, but next time I’m ordering this Feature of the Week.

Sporty Salad
It was a late night, and I decided to have drinks at a local sports bar. The game was on every flat screen and the drinks were starting to flow. However, I realized something was missing from the equation. All these drinks and I haven’t ordered anything off the menu. I chose a grilled shrimp Caesar salad. I like to experiment with food, so I used Caesar and French dressing on this salad. It was delicious because it was a light dish for a late night, and the shrimp was seasoned well. Overall, I enjoyed the $5 frozen drinks and the sporty salad.
FOOD TIP: When you cut the back of a shrimp, its called "butterflying."

Health Bug
A healthy
dinner is always refreshing and great for any occasion. This taste of heaven is
from Henry’s Louisiana Grill. Picture grilled salmon over a bed of mixed greens
with spiced walnuts, sun-dried cranberries, Parmesan cheese, and complimented with
the Chef’s signature Honey Dijon dressing. Not only is this salad amazing, but
the atmosphere of the restaurant makes any customer feel like they are in
Louisiana. The owner of Henry’s Louisiana Grill personally greets each customer
that enters his establishment, and he was recently featured on 11 Alive Unique
Eats. Congratulations.

L. Georges
Different places are known for different things. In the Motor City, Coney Island is their signature. Some locations are 24hours, and they offer a wide variety of food. This taste of heaven is called Greek Grilled Chicken Salad. This healthy salad consists of beets, cucumbers, feta cheese crumbs, banana peppers, tomatoes, grilled chicken, and creamy Italian dressing. And on the side, is slices of warm, fluffy pita bread. This serving is enough for two and its worth your bucks. It will definitely tickle your taste buds.
